Crawley is a large town and borough in West Sussex and covers an area of over 17 square miles with a population exceeding 100, 000. The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age and has developed from a market town since the 13th Century.
Crawley is the main feeder town for Gatwick Airport which is on the edge of the town to the North. The town is split into 13 neighbourhoods comprising Langley Green, Northgate, Pound Hill, Maidenbower, Furnace Green, Tilgate, Broadfiled, Bewbush, Ifield, West Green, Gossops Green, Southgate, and Three Bridges.
Economically Crawley has developed in to the main industrial and employment centre between London to the north and Brighton on the south coast.
Crawley has a large shopping centre with an enclosed County Mall precinct in the town centre.
